DIY "Mud Pie" Inspired Toddler Shirts Including Templates

It's no secret that I adore dressing my kids in cute boutique style clothes on the cheap. In fact now that I have learned to do embellish clothes with applique it's gotten even worse!! Ha Ha.

Every time I see Mud Pie designer baby clothes I swoon. They are so darn cute. I was inspired by these two outfits to figure out my own version. These retail about $30.00 each from retailers who carry Mud Pie.

I started with a plain tunic style white top I found on clearance at JC Penny for $3.99.

Hobby Lobby had this great ruffle trim on clearance for $.59 a yard! Then I used my left over Wonder Under and fabric scraps. I came up with an anchor template and used that to applique it to the shirt. Click here for my tutorial on Wonder Under. Here is my anchor template I am sharing with you all. Lina's Anchor Template

After I ironed on the anchor, and hand sewed around the edges, I machine sewed on two rows of the ruffles on the top and bottom of the shirt.

Lastly I sewed on a red bow to the top of the anchor.

My little boy needed a shirt too so I made him a red crab and sewed on buttons for the crab's eyes. Here is my template for the crab for you to use as well. Lina's Crab Applique Template

There will be some serious cuteness happening for the 4th of July this weekend!

I love how these turned out!!!

I hope you liked my inexpensive Mud Pie inspired toddler tops! I was able to spend less than $7.00 on mine.

Hawaiian Ric Rac Burp Cloths

This project was WAY too FUN!! A friend saw my previous burpie post and asked me if I could make some Hawaiian themed ones! Of course I said "I would love to!", and skipped all the way to JoAnne's! (By the way I forgot my coupon and downloaded the JoAnne's ap on my IPhone and was sent a digital coupon right away! Sweet!

I think these turned out soooooo A-dorable!! Go here to see how I make these.

For a fun presentation, I tied them up with some raffia skirt material (left over from my son's beach room), and added a tiny hair clip flower!

Yeah I hope this mommy will L-O-V-E!

Dollar Mod Podge Frame

Do you like cheap, simple, and cute projects like me? These liitle wood frames can be found for a $1.00 at Michael's and look so cute embellished with scrapbook paper.

I had some Mod Podge left over from the bow holder so this project cost me $1.56 including the scrapbook paper.

All you have to do is paint on a layer of Mod Podge, lay down your paper and smooth out bubbles, and then layer on another layer of Mod Podge. Let dry and sand edges.
I also spray painted the sides of my frame ahead of time.

I thought a little red white, and blue mini bunting would look cute..so I just cut some triangles from scrap fabric and glued to the frame. That's it.

The frame looks so festive next to my Goodwill ribbon plate, and ruffle ball. I borrowed some felt circles from that heart wreath I made in Feb so I didn't have to cut a million circles again!

Not bad for some last min 4th of July decorating! Funny how I've never really done alot for this holiday as far as decorating...I think its because its so dang hot right now I run out of energy FAST! :)

Thanks and Happy Fourth,

xoxo

Ric Rac Burp Cloths

I am loving these burpies I made yesterday to match my applique baby gifts from last week! I first saw these on Just Another Hang Up (Thanks Suzanne for the inspiration). What I loved most about these are the ric rac detail. She has a great step by step on how to make them.

And let me just say I am especially proud because sewing does NOT come easy to me at ALL! In fact I am yelling at the machine the whole time :) I will never tell how many hours it took me to make the first one of these! But now I am alot faster and they are definately way worth the effort!

I used Gerber cloth diapers and the jumbo sized ric rac along with the left over fabric from my onesies.

My favorite by far is this one with the guitar applique on top. I didn't think of combining the two until after I was a few in. There are just so many possiblities on these!

And here are the western burpies.....

to go with the western onsies and bib!

My sewing lines are not perfect and most are lopsided, but hey these are for baby spit :)

Thanks for stopping by!

xoxo
